The Bourne Sepremacy

When the movie first came out 6 months ago or so we all posted on here that the movie was way shakey and a lot of hand held work was done. Now that I own the DVD, It didn't really bother me this time around! I am not sure why. Also all of the behind the scenes stuff on the DVD was cool to learn as well.

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

I wonder if maybe it's less hard hitting when not on a 40 foot screen :-/

I hated the Blair witch cam work when I saw it in theaters. I will give the DVD a shot for sure. Thanks

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

My wife got it a white elephant party. I'll see it again this week. But I'd agree that it's probably less annoying on the small screen.

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

I actually really enjoyed it in the theatre. My opinion it was the best film out of the blockbusters this summer. I don't compare it at all to Blair Witch, cuz this had like 10 cuts every 10seconds, whereas Blair Witch was just long shots of someone running with the camera which makes it way easier to achieve motion sickness.

Supremacy didn't have the best storyline, but the style Greengrass gave it, was something different than the norm, just non stop frantic for the most part. along with great performances by Damon, and Urban who stole the show evertime he was on screen - damn good show in my eyes!

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

I think because it was on the bigscreen it amplified, Because I was nauseated and had a headache at the Theatre.
At the time I felt the handheld stuff was overdone, when I get the DVD it may change my mind. Yet, big screen and TV are two different things, they shot the movie for the bigscreen, somaybe that was their intent, to make you feel like that, if it was, it worked..
My wife fell asleep at the Theatre though :-/

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

I recently watched this on DVD and was preapring myself for the 'shaky stress camera' everyone had reported; aside from the first 60 seconds (when Damon is in bathroom) I didnt 'see it'. It was fine to me. Great film by the way.

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

I thought the chase scenes felt old fashioned. I mean that in a good way in that it felt organic.

When I think of the Matrix Reloaded the freeway scene feels very CG and sterile. I liked that The Bourne Supremacy looked and felt dirty and organic.

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

This is how I wish they would do a James Bond film; gritty, street level, plausible (emphahsis on that one).

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

The only time i felt it was a little to shaky on the big screen was the fight scene in the house that blows up. other than that it was fine for me. i'd hate to see some of you guys on rollercoasters :-[

Unless it is a horror movie or something that has Zombies popping up in the fashion of Rich Lee, she gets board.

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

My kind of lady Muir! Although my wife watches these films reluctantly; I make her watch all of the horror films. She still has nightmares from watching these finds of films!

The one film she wont watch is the remake of TEXAS CHAINSAW.

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

See Ocean's 12. It has the exact same shaky effect as Bourne. I think it's a thing now. Trying to compete with us penniless indie filmmakers! Yeah, that's what it is.

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

A birdie told me that the final in the trilogy, the Bourne Ultimatum, begins filiming at the end of 2005... :-X

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

So it was camera work? I thought it was the turbulence! ;D
(I saw it on a plane).

I must say (despite the tiny screen on the plane), I liked it more than I thought I would. I was quite disappointed when I first saw 'The Bourne Identity', so I didn't go see 'supremacy' in a theatre. But after seeing it on the plane, I think I am going to get the DVD.

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

I found them pretty much the same. Good action fare, not much else. But then again, I love good action fare.

I agree. I liked the 'Russian' scenes toward the end - I think they got the atmosphere right (the drab buildings, soviet-era cars, and so on).

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

Maybe they saw all the complaining about the shaky footage as a sign and stabilized it for the DVD? Just guessing, I still haven't seen it.

How did you guys sit through Eternal Sunshine? Every single shot in that film is handheld. Geez I love that movie.

Re: The Bourne Sepremacy

I haven't seen it yet (damn!) Jim Carrey is my hero (well, I can live without the Pet Detective flicks). Amazing guy...
