The best look ever

I have DVD with 'Broken' and it's the best short short on DVX as far as look is concerned. It looks like 35 mm.

Do you guys know how to use Vegas to simulate the most filmic look possible?

PS this dvd is really packed good stuff...but i dont have Final Cut and After Effects...just curious if you can get film look on Vegas ...???

Absolutely you can.

I'll plug Celluloid at the end of this, but . . .

I have no idea what Broken looks like, but I have no doubt in my mind that Vegas can be used to achieve the look.

It's a question of first, shooting well, but then tweaking contrast, gamma, color matrix, etc., to achieve the look you want.

If you look at the VASST website, you'll find numerous tutorials on how to color-correct, use contrast, etc., to achieve a more cinematic feel to your footage.

If you check my sig, you'll see a link to Celluloid, a plugin which does a lot of the work for you. You'll find that the ReelPaks offer quite a few popular color grading looks from the past and from today.

Also, I'll plug Barry's DVX DVD a little -- on it, he demonstrates how to achieve a number of film looks using the DVX alone.

I didn't like Broken at all.

The quality could have been better with the DVX 100, and the acting was terrible. Having said that, I thought the graphics was outstanding.

I liked the look of Broken. That's all I am talking about.
Are you serious? YOu did not like the way DVX footage looked like?

The look is no big deal - you can get that in Magic Bullet all day long. I just didn't like the shots, too much video noise, not enough lighting.

You can get the same look in Vegas as well. Lower saturation, higher contrast, pumping the blues. Or, you can use MB which is cheap and works in Vegas.
