The Best Compression Software for OSX?

Hi Everyone,

I'd just like to tap your brains to see what the best compression software is for Mac OSX (10.4.2).

I've had many problems with Apple's Compressor program and wondering what the alternatives are for creating 24p DVDs.

Preferably a program that creates MPEG-2 and H.264 video...

Thanks!

I think Cleaner is still a solid program if you have the time and desire to tweak it for the right results. Most of the time I just use the export function in QuickTime Pro. Simple to use, clean results... and cheap!

compressor always has worked well for me. Cleaner is a good one too, although alittle too $$ for some.

what has been the trouble using compressor?

Compressor should work fine as it uses Quicktime Pro as its compression engine. You should also be able to make those Mpeg2 files without going through Compressor. Just open it up in QT7Pro and Export.

Correction: the MPEG2 Export is only available within QT7Pro if you have installed Compressor or read this (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/) also another option (shareware) could be this (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15473)

hope that helps
