The best and the worst of 2010

What is the best piece and the worst piece of equipment posters purchased and/or used in 2010?
For me the best purchase was:
GoPro HD, hands down- the best 300 bucks spent in 2010.
The worst is still (second year and counting):
JVC GY-HM100. (This review pretty much sums it up: "Looks like it was tossed together five to five on Friday night).

The best purchase of 2010 was my Canon 135mm 2.0 lens. Took a while to purchase. The worst 2010 purchase was the hfs100. Really good camcorder just didn't fit into the work flow I have. Oh well.

Best was my EX1 R and CS5 Master Collection.

I didn't have a worst.
I did shoot some worst video....

Lots of bests.. hpx170,64p2,raynox macro, portabrace rain cover/case..., goprohd(what a tank, it should be dead from what its been through, its still ticking) Good year in that respect

Worst:a couple of Zoom products.. the H2 audio recorder, it was cool while it lasted , but it died just when I was starting to like it. and a Q3 audio/video recorder(which I thought would be great for some 7thgrade students as a BehindtheScenes cam, but the video was horrible(which I expected) and the audio was horrible(which was contrary to my expectations from the H2 audio quality which was actually great), also it lasted 1month. So I wont be buying anymore zoom stuff, not robust enough, flimsy.

Cheers to a Happy New Year Full of New Bests!!!!!!

Best purchase was a 60D bought on whim after selling 7D. Did not buy my Hpx 170 this year but last it is still my favorite camera in a decade. Happy to say because of the shared experiences on sites like this one I have no regret purchases.

Best:
Gh13 hack.
Lumix GH2.
Olympus PEN FT (great half-frame film camera.)
Fat Gecko car mount. See this thread:
http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthrea...great)-doubles-as-awesome-gunstock-stabilizer!
Maxed-out 15" Macbook Pro
Custom PC tower

Worst:
Probably zoom h4...I use it a ton and love having it, got it really cheap too, but really wished I had gone with DR-100.
Hmmm...can't think of anything else right now, I am usually pretty cautious about purchases...I have a couple stinkers from 2009 though.

Best: GF13
Worst: Wii (not really bad, it's just that I bought an Xbox360 and a PS3 at the same time -- never opened the Wii. :))

I didn't buy much in the way of gear in 2010. But I do have to say I really enjoy my Canon T2i DSLR. Sure it may not be the ultimate filmmaking machine, but for the price it was a nice little thing for me to get to experiment and have fun with, and even used it on some pro shoots for certain shots.

As for the worst thing I've bought in 2010, it would have to be tapes. Mini DV (Sony HDV brand tapes) for my Canon XH-A1. I had a few bad tapes, but thankfully only one that totally crapped out on me. Still though, I'm so darn sick of tapes and capturing and all that mumbo jumbo. I'm glad the AF100 is on the way, in addition to other nice looking tapeless cinema-style cameras. It is definitely time for an upgrade.

Best: Tokina 11-16s. Both of them, because I sold one in 2 days for $150 more than I paid for it, and I still have the other. Steadicam Merlin, Slider Dolly, and iMac were pretty good purchases too. The iMac was especially good because I sold my 17" Macbook Pro to the company my girlfriend works for so that she can use it to make ads. I still have access to that when I need it, and now I have an iMac. I actually made money off that one.

Worst money spent was probably the $1200 I spent on a wedding festival, where I booked zero weddings, only to then book three within a week off of facebook. Lesson learned.

Best: Adobe CS5 for finally being a real NLE. Kessler crane for making some awesome shots for me, I would call it the best purchase for me this decade. Redrock M2E for still making people think I shoot on 16mm. (Technically I bought it last year, but it keeps on kicking!)

Worst: Cineform for absolutely destroying my workflow with Neo4K 5.0 and posting a trouble ticket 2 months ago with no fix in sight.

Great thread idea.

I was on a buying tear this year.
Best: t2i, tokina 11-16, zaza slider.

Worst: a Manhattan monitor. Should've just held onto my ikan which I gave away on eBay. Live and learn.

Best = FD 50mm macro off ebay for GH13 (or any of the old FD lenses I've got... really)

Worst = Gary Fong WhaleTail for new t2i +580exII... I'm quite sick of expensive, little plastic items that break apart within a few uses.

Best - Tokina 11-16, AF100, Macbook Pro i7

Worst - everything I bought to accessorize my 7D (DSLR baseplate, tripod plate, batteries, circular filters, Lilliput monitor, DR-100, and all the random brackets, mounts, and HDMI monitoring "solutions" to make it behave "normally")

Best - tie between the Wrightsville SOUND & LIGHTING DVDs and our new AF100 with support gear.
Worst - paid a couple hundred bucks for a DIY Distribution seminar and learned nothing new.

Best: Avid MC5 + Matrox MXo2. Changed me from a bitter editor to absolutely LOVING editing again. Runner up is the 550D for getting me back into photography again.

Worst: Thankfully avoided this year. I do not regret a single video related purchase this year. Been a darn good year for me in that regard.

Best: My new 6000 sg foot sound stage. It is already turning a profit!

Worst: All the stupid stuff I had to have just to turn a DSLR into a usable video camera. I already had very good cameras, I just had to jump on the bandwagon. I have used the silly rig twice and will probably never use it again. On the plus side I did collect some real nice lenses.

best: getting to travel to LA for a month and going to more than 5 different theme parks in one summer (3 in cali and 2 in spain).....as you can see I love theme parks!!! other than that lots of stuff going on (more than 6 short films and winning some contests)...and some gear too (iphone!)...
worse: losing too many hair to stress hahaha.....
