The Beast -- A&E series

[Nektonic]

Anybody catch this show yet? It's only been on for two episodes. Great show though. Swayze is great in it. If you enjoy things like Training Day or The Shield, then check it out. Not that it is the same, but similar in that it has a gritty vibe to it and explores the darkside of law enforcement.

The pilot had a lot of night scenes, in Chicago. The visual aesthetic kinda reminds me of the digitally shot stuff from Micheal Mann's Collateral and Miami Vice remake, but more film-like and without the excessive gain/grain. Not sure if it is shot on film or HD. I wanna say HD but some scenes look like film so maybe it's a mix of the two.

The link below is to a promo trailer on Youtube. If you can though, just watch the pilot episode because the promo gives away part of a great scene. If you have Comcast On Demand then The Beast should be available. If you must watch the promo liked below, tune out before 1:15 because the reveal I'm talking about is at 1:20.

After seeing this show, I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to watching the tamer cop stuff like CSI and Numbers.

New episode this Thursday. Can't wait.

I'm actually a pretty big fan of it. Just saw the first episode and caught maybe a second one, but having trouble keeping up with school and such. It's got a good vibe to it. It's a fresh change from cop shows like CSI, and blah blah crap.
