The Artist.

Truly great award winning entertainment.

I noticed one possible continuity gaff, in the early stages they clearly spelt lead fem Peppy Millers name as Pepi,
then later as Peppy on the bilboards. Could be they dropped an optional scene where her manager decided to alter her spelling, could be.

Trust they all have big enough carry on luggage for the swag of Oscars.
Going to be an interesting time going through the metal detectors at LAX. :)

Cheers.

I'm pretty sure that was a reference to the common occurrence of a minor actor's name being misspelled in credits.

No other thread I could see.

'Peppy's first "big" role has her name misspelled as "Pepi".' Apparently an obscure reason for that inclusion, check under S ..

During its run at the local Orpheum here, after some complaints the management put up a notice by the ticket office
> 'Patrons please note, this film does not have dialogue, it has a music soundtrack'

Doesn't say much for the locals in my neighbourhood :(

Here's some outakes, which funnily enough do need dialogue and sfx but a chance to hear the wonderful theme again ..

O/T Here's why The Artist appeals to me, my first job as a wet behind the ears 16yr old, I worked for an ex vaudeville comedian,
who ran a radio production unit here, Mr. Beck was a mentor for many years .. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1512785/bio

Cheers.

I don't think that was a Spell My Name With An S at all -- as that trope is about transliteration issues, which couldn't be in play here -- and it was one of her very minor roles, not her first big one. A number of the other tropes listed don't describe what happened in the film accurately, either. This is one of the problems with the "wiki" model. :)

Only came across this now. I enjoyed the film. I must admit though, I was skeptical at first. Very skeptical. I can't describe how skeptical I was... (enough now!) I really thought that the B/W silent thing was just a gimmick to appeal to the academy, but it really supported the actual story. It managed to tell a intriguing story with no dialogue at all, which (from the past) we know can really be botched if not done properly.
