The Amazon

I have a shoot coming up in the amazon. i am looking for some resources on how the cameras can deal with the extream heat and moisture. stratagies for coping with the elements. are there any websites, blogs, books?

thanks

HVX doesn't care about extreme heat at all. I've shot with it in a Bikram yoga studio, which was about 115 degrees with a humidifier pumping into it as well. The weather channel bought a ton of HVXs because during Hurricane Rita all their tape-based cameras quit working, but their P2 cameras kept going.

You're going to want a rain jacket or something to keep it from getting directly splashed, but other than that there's really nothing to worry about.

The Amazon is why I use nothing but Panasonic now... Both the Sony's we'd packed failed, 1 the very first day and the other about 48 hours later... We ended up coming back with the majority of footage capped on a DVC60 that I'd brought for it low light ability... (For a camera I'd considered "expendable", It got hammered every day but it shrugged it off and kept plugging along...)

The rest was from a couple Sony HC96's with HCB sports pack underwater housings... Not quite the quality I get from the DVX in an Ikelite, but 20 pounds lighter... :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

And yep... Rain jackets are an absolute "must have" and Pelican cases with tons of desi packs...

Gotta admit I probably put my cams through things that a sane person wouldn't but I've got great insurance...
