The Adventures of Tintin...

Been looking forward to this for a long time. Big fan of the original Hergé books.

Apparently American reviewers who have had little exposure to the comics are really enjoying it. Europeans who are more familiar with the source are less enthusiastic. The only thing that gives me pause is the creepy, dead-eyed mocap.

A friend who's a fan of the comics found it curious they are doing it in 3D, since Herge's art style is very 2D.

I like the 3D they're doing, but even if a 2D animation was considered I'd doubt they'd do it. 3D animation is all the hype these days, I mean when last did Disney release a successful 2D animation.

I've read all the comic books and I loved them back when I was 10-12. Lets see how the movie unfolds.

Tintin = Belgian :-p

And in dutch it's "Kuifje" (Kuif and the "je" is to make it small, like a small fly would be vliegje... vlieg+je, pronounced like vleegye)
And a "kuif" is also the piece of hair in front that's up... From which he has his original name.

The more they try to make 3D animation look real, the less I'm interested. I'm not sure why...it just bores the hell out of me.

Tintin will need to have spectacular reviews for me to even consider renting it. So far, I have zero interest.

I love tintin , read almost all the 'graphic novels' in highschool. I was excited when I read they made a new movie -BUT the technology of Realistic human 3D is not yet there to give the subtlety of emotions live action can give, 2D is even better in doing emotions.

I saw it in POLAR EXPRESS, FINAL FANTASY, BEOWULF, and now this. The eyes is dead. And in acting the eyes say it all. In realistic 3D, or at least the ones I saw, the eyes are still dead and cold.

Not slightly interested if it is like Beowulf or Polar Express type animation, that just sucked!
