Hey hey. My Brother, Cousin, Best Friend and I are getting into a van and officially starting The Kavadba Summer Roadtrip 2010.

Now I do my filmmaking under the name Kavadba Entertainment. That sprung from my brothers company which has been in business since 2002. However, my brother was in high school/college until this spring so this will be our Official Grand Opening.

We've planned a 6 week, 15,000 mile, cross country roadtrip that will put the 5 of us on the adventure of a lifetime through a good majority of the United States. We leave from Northwest MT next Monday (July 5th) and head West to the coast and then South from Seattle. The plan is to hit up music festivals, xtreme sports competitions and local get togethers and set up a temporary shop to A) Spread the brand name. B) Make Sales. and C) Have an amazing time exploring the country and meeting the people in it.

We've got a bucket list to keep the spice and excitement levels up. Things like "Pick up a hitchhiker", and "Go Bungee Jumping" are there for entertainment but we also want to leave a positive message so there are a bunch of items like, "Do A Day of Volunteer Work."

It should be an amazing time. We'll probably be coming through a City near you. Keep up with us @ www.kavadba.com You can post messages, give us imput/feedback and possibly influence our journey.

As for the filmmaking part of this, I'm documenting everything and we'll have bi-weekly updates for everyone to follow on youtube.

We've had a couple newspapers write about our trip and some interest from magazines and television shows. And we've got a handful of sponsors including New Belgium Brewery.
We'd love more exposure and sponsorships. Please help spread the word in any way you can. Help us make this an amazing adventure. If anyone wants to meet us on the road, just check out the map and message us on the site. We're looking for people to come hang out and possibly run camera or help.

Haha Thanks guys. It's "The Kavadba Van" (although maybe we should name it __blank__ -the kavadba van) and the trailer is the "U.S.S. Whiskey".

We should be in Phoenix around the 20th of July. I'll keep you posted.

Good answer by the way.

Thanks!

Shooting it on the HVX?

As long as you guys are doing the 4 corners of the US, you should "swing by" Key West- crazy partying, lots of characters, sunset at Mallory Square with even more characters, get your message out...

Yeah HVX'n it. We''re skipping Key West because we've all been there before. But I bet it would be a great place to sell and spread the word.

UPDATE
We Got sponsored by New Belgium Brewery. They make "Fat Tire Amber" and "Skinny Dip"
They hooked us up with a bunch of brew, a few tins, and some randoms trinkets.

WOW very cool. First off we made it to Lake Tahoe CA. Going to San Louis Obispo tonight.

ALSO, we got sponsored by Contour HD portable camcorders. They hooked us up with two camera's and a waterproof casing. Awesome. Check em out here.

wtf? Ive driven cross country 3 times and never once got sponsored. No Nike deals, no Gatorade logos painted on my car, nothing.

PS San Luis Obispo is a great town. It's very Santa Barbara-ish in it's coolness. How 'bout Pismo? You stopping by there? There is a great billiards place there with about 25-30 different beers on tap. But, it's almost a secret. You walk into a small t-shirt souvenir shop, typical of a beach town, and find a door in the back that leads you to a HUGE room, long walkway to the bar and a bunch of pool tables all around you. Good burgers too.

I just got back from attempting to do this as a solo road trip. The road trip itself was amazing but the filmmaking aspect of it fell apart.

Words of advice: Plan ahead. I know it sucks to do; you want things to be spontaneous. You will need to call ahead to the places you're hoping to shoot at at least 3 days beforehand, and start getting permission then. It's a huge buzz kill to roll up into a new city with an ambitious plan of attack and get shut down repeatedly by owners. You'll be waiting to hear back from some business owner, and it might take a few days of you being stationary to get the yes or no. This will feel like a lifetime when you're used to moving so quickly.

I think 6 weeks is pretty short for your plan. After a few days of craziness you'll likely all want to relax and regroup. I found that for every day of filming, it took me two days of sitting in a Starbucks to catch up with editing. Plan ahead for this.

My last piece of advice depends a bit on your personalities and what your goals are. Don't become too content with just spending time with each other. The best part of travel is meeting and befriending complete strangers. The people you cross will change your life. There's a risk that a group of best friends traveling together would be perfectly fine just hanging out with each other and end up doing only that.

I just realized you guys have already started your trip. Best of luck. If you decide to swing farther south to Austin, let me know. I'd love to meet up.

It looks like you'll be driving through my area. I'll keep an eye on your progress. Maybe we can grab a beer.

Hey guys. All good thoughts. I am already behind on the editing. We surfed for 4 hours today... wow what a sport... Cough I mean Lifestyle.

We've met soooo many amazing people so far. A lot of people just come up to the Van and give us money. I think we've had 6 or 7 people give donations ranging from a few bucks and a hackysack to $20. And we're selling a lot of product.

If you haven't checked out the website yet. I'd recommend it. www.kavadba.com

On our way to LA tomorrow.

If you've got Facebook check out... (youtube won't free the song)

We Got to watch the hurricane while swimming in the gulf. Huge lightning storm with 85 degree water.

How does one begin a beginning? A question asked before and brought up again by myself at the precursing time frame of the Kavadba Summer Roadtrip 2010. This was to be our greatest adventure. A culmination of 5 lives with over 120 years of life between us.
2 brothers, a cousin, a best friend and a newfound roadmate. We were to be the helmsmen on this titanic life experience and somehow we had to not only get the ship in the water but make sure she swam.
There was no kickoff for us, no broken champagne bottle christening or sounding trumpet. Instead, we built our summer in small pieces. Bolt by bolt, shirt by shirt until we had what, at least on the outside looked like a promising company, quality and quantity of product, tour van, trailer and portable print shop. Let’s not forget the plan… We had a roadmap and a thin blue line pointing the way from one city to the next in a counter-clockwise circle of the United States.
Would it be enough? The schematic. Two of us had quit jobs to be a part of this. Laid to waste summer plans, summer school, apartments, pay checks, girlfriends, routine… we all sacrificed something in order to reserve our seats inside the van that was leaving July 5th from a small town in Northwestern Montana.
What we gained was hope. Hope that our lives would look more promising on the other side of 15,000 miles. Hope that we’d gain a knowledge and wisdom unattainable in books or classrooms. Something people had to go out and search for. Something that couldn’t be given or earned. It had to be taken straight from the dragons mouth. It is a rare and elusive type of life experience. The kind with teeth and heart, made of steel and gems, which stands tall and proud, heads above the rest. The life experience you can trace through a person’s eyes, which may or may not show through anywhere else. We coined a name for that type of experience. Kavadba. “Best of Times” and “Live Life to the Fullest.”

Congrats. When your old and gray, you'll be thanking yourself that you did what your doing now.

Priceless memories man. You just can't buy this stuff. Congrats on being able to do it, and doing it.
