The # 23

Yeah, I read a few bad reviews on this too, but I haven't seen it. It looked promising. I was actually interested to see Jim Carrey in a psychological thriller, but now I'll probably wait for it to come out on DVD.

I saw it.

I saw some reviews putting it down, but my gf wanted to see it. So we went anyways. I guess because I went in with few expectations and I'd seen some of the reviews, but I kind of enjoyed it.

Worth a rental on a rainy day, but nothing special. Also don't expect much from it.

I was just hoping for more of a delve into the conspiracy and making us beleive this conspiracy with the number 23. But they didn't, it was more about the obssesion of the number, and not about the number itself. I wanted to beleive in the whole thing and really become obsessed with 23, but they didn't let me.

I think it was just a cool concept, but not well executed. They were trying too hard. Also Jim Carrey, I'm sure he can do a serious performance, but this performance was kind of lacking.

Also they try and tie up lose ends to make it believable, when it's not. Just try to ignore that fact and you'll enjoy it a bit.

The ending was also a bit dissapointing. Felt like they were trying too much to be like Fight Club. A complete twist in character when the character himself doesn't even know it. But I enjoyed the twist in fight club, just not in 23. I mean the chances of his wife finding and reading the book and giving it to him, when he wrote it himself and some stranger published it for him... kind of hard to beleive. so many lose ends that they tried to tie up to make it beleivable. I was just like "come on".

Not really though. It was pretty contrived, with a very weak, half-assed delivery. John star already put it pretty well though.

Couldn't help posting this, I got a kick out of it. Basically the trailer reshot as a spoof.

I agree with Miguel, I hate to judge solely on the trailer, but it looked pretty dumb. That and Joel Schumaker doesn't have the greatest reputation (although I did enjoy Tigerland a bit).

I've not seen the film yet, but from the trailers it kind of looks like a similar story to Pi. I've seen some bad reviews on the film, but I'll probably rent it when it comes to DVD.

Jim Cary wasn't too convincing, eh? I was hoping to see him pull off a serious role, as opposed to his every movie goofy character.

Watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He delivers a really good serious performance, although he also has a balance of humor in it,b ut it's pretty reserved and rare in the film. He just isn't very good in The Number 23.
