The 13th Hour!

My first music video shoot is fast approaching (Sat.) and I'm starting to feel the pressure. Even though it's no budget, I put forth a very ambitious treatment, and I'm thinking I should've done something...nah, that'd be boring. Best way to learn is to overpromise and just figure out how to do it. Here's my list, for all who care...needed to get it off my chest:

1. Plan out details for roughly 10-15 visual effects shots.
2. Find/write release forms.
3. Come up with wardrobe requirements.
4. Go get all my support items, tapes, gaffers tape, ext. cord, etc...
5. Read DVX100 manual (never used one)
6. Pick up camera, lights, PA, dolly (rentals)
7. Finish shot list and storyboard.
8. Burn timecode into a quicktime for onset playback.
9. Get slate and chalk.
10. PRAY that everything goes as planned in under 8 hours!!!

What is it they say about procrastination?

Sounds like you got absolutely nothing to worry about! (No jinx intended)

I shot my first music video without following any of those steps you listed (I had a 2-day notice). Almost had a nervous breakdown the night before and not being able to sleep didn't help either, but in the end it came out better than I expected. So I'm sure you'll do way better.

By the way, can you elaborate on Step 8? (Burn timecode into a quicktime for onset playback)?

I'm using a Quicktime movie for my audio. I put the audio into a sequence in FCP, added a TC generator and need to render out a Quicktime. This way I playback from my laptop and I shoot the screen for timecode sync...poorman's smart slate.

I did the same exact thing just a few weeks ago.
Works great - had no problems.

OIL (OneInfiniteLoop)- You'll be fine! Just remember to breathe. All the planning in the world will do you no good if you are passed out on the floor. :)

Seriously, go thru your list, be confident you have what you need, and trust in yourself. Its everyone else you will have to worry about. :D

oh, and extra batteries... and a back-up mic... and a plan B for when your light blows.... know where the closest RadioShack is.....

Nevermind, this sucks as a pep talk. heh!
