...well 0$ when you own a light Tripod, I did try it with my cullman 522 for photography which is quiete light (1,6 kg) and my GH2.

Iam new to videographing and was interested into steady/flycams, they are not that cheap and therefore I was looking around for DIY alternatives.

Until I did find this video here and the results are quiete cool...probably not the same like a true Glidecam/Steadycam ...but its a clever idea and Iam surprised about the results, easy to balance the dslr. Try it out !

I tried this as well... But being a bit picky, I always seem to want more :S I thought there was too much roll in this "design". Later I tried the old homemade version with two metal pipes and a weight at the bottom. It was ok... used it for a music video (see below). We added a wheelchair for some of the dolly shots, but it's still a bit unbalanced, plus this thing handheld gets heavy after some hours :P

I'm looking into financing a proper rig now... the production value increase for me would be significant. I just have to work out how much acc. is needed to make it work properly.

WoW....quiete professional looking music video, Iam far away from such projects since I started videographing this year and Iam filming more city life or nature outside. But I guess what you mean and I see it also on my test videos, i.e. walking around persons or following them. Its hard to controll the shake and it has no gimbal to compensate the steps of the cameraman. It needs probably also a lot of practice with the diy or real thing.

Here is another interesting video, a Kid shows how to use an alternative way how to use the Tripod and with interesting results at 2:00..

Tried it but couldnt get it that fluently like he shows, need to practice a bit more...

At the end with more practice I will probably buy the real thing in the far future....
