THANK YOU, DVXuser

I've been here for about a week and have already learned more than I could have hoped to learn in months. This is by far the best and most useful forum I've ever been a part of.

DVXuser is honestly one of the greatest web achievements ever created in my opinion. Without this site, I may not be....whew, I can't even say. It's funny though, because I have friends who have graduated from film schools across the country, and still I sit here, giving advice to those with years more experience. I owe all my technical knowledge and passion of filmmaking to DVXuser. Thank you.

Very cool of you to say. I am constantly impressed with the caliber of people we get here, who contribute so freely of their time with everyone else.

Look in the mirror, Barry. You're one of the people who really make this site the great resource that it is. :dankk2:

I joined at the end of June.

Katrina turned my life over and shook it out in pieces like furniture from a doll house at the end of August.

My girlfriend and our newly adopted beagle and two cats and I evacuated to my parent's farm in Texas where we lived in the garage (I finished Shed) and we substitute taught elementary school

Then we moved back to New Orleans in October for 4 months where we struggled to get by with all my income sources washed away by the Hurricane. (and made another DVXuser movie)

When our landlord evicted us because he needed to live in our apartment (we had been month to month for a year), and with rent in the area doubling, we relocated to Brooklyn like immigrants from another country coming to the promised land in hopes of increased opportunity (and made another DVXuser movie).

Beyond technical knowledge and helping to make my dream of being a filmmaker come true, DVXuser has been the most consistent community and group of friends that I have had in this year of upheaval and re-invention. Whomever I had to leave behind in whatever city, whatever newly conceived plan for making some kind of new life that had to be scrapped for a newer yet equally short lived plan, DVXuser was the only constant outside my GF, the beagle and the two cats.

Given that, it's no wonder I earned and then re-earned and then double earned the monicker "Mr. Excitable" several times over based on the ebb and flow and ups and downs of this site and interactions with the members here. In other words what happens on DVXuser matters to me ... a helluva lot.

Thanks for being a light house in a year adrift, where I am just now am I coming to shore.

Jack

Yeah good call on this thread, felt lately the fellowship has been faltering. Little spats etc. This thread is a timely reminder why we all come
here.

Yeah, it's funny actually, cuz even though i'm new here I used to spend alot of my time as a guest just looking at the stuff you guys talk about, I kinda feel like I know all of you. It's cool to see people singin and getting along, and most of all paying tribute to people like Jarred & Barry which is why I started this thread in the first place.
I know I still got to pay my dues (about 400 posts right? :nads: ) but I just wanted to say that each and every one of you ROCK!

It works great, Jarred. Here's a picture of my daughter and her dog. I'm not sure how to make it smaller. I set the size up for a width of 2" in Photoshop, but it's still kind of large...
very cute :)
