...for all the good info!
After so many time with a Rode Alu boom pole, I've decided that was time to invest in a decent one, the question was which one?
I've read many DVXusers recommending the Gitzo carbon booms but I had a problem, they aren't sold in my country so I always looked to that option with a little discomfort (I think is a must to try a boom pole before buy it).
But Lightwave booms are crap (they have lots of internal noise), and buying a VDB makes no sense with Ambient (for my knowledge, the best boom worldwide) costing just a little more than VDB but... They bankrupt any common mortal.
So... Gitzo it is! I've order it from UK and received a couple of days ago. I was WOW the instant I unpacked it.
Brilliantly finished, surprisingly light (more than a Ambient QX - to my feel at least), with very good locks and no internal noise. I've tested it with a 1,5Kg fishing weight just to see how it can handle it (since Gitzo guarantees that it can work with 2Kg), and I've recorded some location sound with my Tascam P2 making all sort of experiences. Fingers moving on the pole, loose cable around it, shakes of all kinds, and I have to say that I'm very very pleased with my new pole.
I recommend it without any reservation.
Sorry for the long post, but I just wanted to share my enthusiasm
