How do you put text or subtitle on the bars if you have true 16:9 wide screen. Do I need plugins? How do you add subtitle? Do you actually type words perwords?
Thanks

Re: Text on the black bar

If you "write" on the bars they wont show on a 16:9 screen ??? Is that what you want ?

Re: Text on the black bar

Maybe its cropped and not really 16X9? If he shot 4X3 and cropped it in post, then added text to the bottom, would that work?

Re: Text on the black bar

If you crop 16x9 then you can add text. If you shoot true wide, then use After Effects.

Re: Text on the black bar

On a DVD, if you're watching on a 4:3 TV, then the subtitles WILL go on the black bars, and NOT on the video. However, if the DVD is being screened on a widescreen TV, the titles will display on the video (no where else to go - and it's the DVD player, not you, who dictates that).

If you want to display subtitles on the back bars, you have to CREATE black bars in a 4:3 project. The 16:9 project is anamorphic, so there aren't any black bars.

BTW, if you want subitles for a DVD project, then do that using your DVD-authoring software. Not Premiere.

Hope that was vaguely helpful... :P
