Text intro question

Hi,

I would like to make a 10 sec intro for a documentary consisting of 5 individual words showing up on black screen for gradually decreasing periods, i.e. A, B, C, D, E (10 frames each), then A,B,C,D,E (5 frames each) then 3 frames each and so on...

Does anybody have any idea how to do it quickly and smartly in FCP?

cheers :)

Just use the titler in FCP and adjust the length of the clips to what you want them to be.

Yeah, I did use that with a slug sliced into ever shortening pieces and "filled to fit" them with individual words.

But I was hoping for something like a template for that - well, I'm new to FCP - probably that's why I expect too much..

Thanks a lot anyways :)

In After Effects, there a animation widget that allows one to have several layers of 'text' (or anything else), and simply 'animate' the cross programmable cross fade.

Don't know what there is in FC, since I use Express, I usually just use the Boris Title Crawl function, create my text, then manually add fading if needed.

Maybe try making all of them the same amount of frames. Export them as a Quicktime. Bring them back in and use Speed ramping to change the speeds. A normal speed at the beginning and faster toward the end, should give you the result you are looking for.

If you have Motion 3 it allows you to create a master template. Just add some filler text for what you want to change out later. Once you save it as a master template it can be opened in the view in Final Cut and the words can be put in. You'll have to render in it on the timeline.

I use this for a lot of my lower thirds stuff. Unfortunately my new job has me downgraded to Motion 2 and really really miss master templates.

Master templates sounds efficient to me, why would anyone want to downgrade from efficiency
