Text Effects / Transitions on Still Images...

One of the great things about Livetype that I think a lot of people didn't know was that you could apply some of the Livetype Text In / Out effects to still images.

Since Livetype got wrapped into Motion, it seems like all of Motion's text behaviors can now only be applied to typed text created in Motion.

Has anyone found a workaround to apply these behaviors to still images?

For example...would there be a way to take a still image (with transparency) and format it such that Motion would recognize it as a "shape"?

Of course, all of this was fully automated back in Livetype...
