Text Edges Pixelated

Hey all,

I am hoping someone can give me some advice. I am using After Effects CS3 and have noticed the edges on all my text is pixelated (jagged) It's just all the edges and I cannot for the life of me figure out why. It's on all fonts and the continously rasterize is on, though I dont think you can turn it off for text anyways. Also, I should note it's not only the text, shapes, when rotated (not when perfectly straight) are pixelated, as well as edges on other files I bring in are sometimes pixelated/ jagged as well. I am not completely new to after efftects so I do know a bit. This happens in all comp settigs including .9, 1.2 and square PAR. And the resolution is full at 100% in the viewer. This problem is both in the viewer and when I render.

Any advice or insight is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Are you working with DV video? Is your text red? DV video has a tendancy to mangle anything colored red in a manner similar to that which you described.

Are you creating all the assets in AE or another program? ( Illustrator, Photoshop, ect? )

Aroon_Narayanan: it's dv preset but not dv video. It's with the text and solids created in AE.

brinks: Everything is created entirely within AE for the recent project. But say I make a shape in Photoshop and rotate it when I bring it over to AE it has the same problem.

Is your layer quality set to draft?

Is the view magnification in the comp window set above 100%.

Is RAM preview set to full? If so, do RAM previews show the same artifacts?

Have you tried rendering the comp. ? If so, does the resulting file show the artifacts?
