Text anti-aliasing in FCP6

Hello, I'm laying down text on an uncompressed 10bit sequence with 10bit footage. I am wondering what the best way to apply text is. I am seeing anti-aliasing of "steps" on the text I lay down. Is FCP text the best way to go or should I try something like LiveType or Illustrator to get the best quality out of the text?

Or is this all a monitor/playback issue that doesn't not let me see the smooth text? Thanks for any info!

If the canvas isn't set to 100% text and gfx will stair step as FCP is only showing 1 field and you should only make quality judgments like that using an external monitor as opposed to your computer monitor.
