Testing two methods of background noise removal

Hey there..I admit I am a noob here but I am in awe of the expertise in this room. Anyways, as I try to teach myself sound recording, I thought I'd share a little test I did.

Basically, I recorded a few seconds of my daughter reading a book outside on a lightly windy day, near a busy street corner and with crickets chirping.

I used an AT-3350 lav mic with a pop filter recording into my camcorder (AGC set to off) (Complete aside, I am very curious how much better difference a higher-end wired lav mic would actually make).

The first video show what the audio sounds like after going through the default settings of Audacity's noise removal effect then plays the raw audio.

The second video is the same except instead of Audacity, I used the automatic setting of Sound Soap 2. I had some mixed results in a number of things I tried with Sound Soap, but I freely admit that could be due to user error (I'm practicing).

Take a look if you are interested...it is my small way of trying to contribute to this awesome group.

Thanks,
Brian
