Testing HDD Speed on Mac?

Hey guys,

What program would you recommend to test the throughput/speed of HDDs? I'd like to see what kind of speeds I'm getting out of some external drives on my Mac. Is there something in OSX itself? I'm on Snow Leopard.

There are probably some other decent ones out there, but I use the Blackmagic disk speed test. It's available for free, bundled with their product software.

The only caveat is that you'll have to install the whole package (which is just drivers and a couple small utilities) for a product you likely don't own. It's a great utility though, especially for video editors.
 
I would use the AJA test. The BMD one only works if you have one of their products installed.
