Terrible Halos

I like bringing out the sky with a luma mask (left). The mask leaves unnatural edges on objects like the trees (middle). Softening the edges works but leaves obvious halos (right). For this reason I find masks in Premiere rarely work. If anybody knows a cure for halos lemme know!

You would have better control over masks and correction in After Effects.
If you can provide the original photos/videos, we could give it a try.

I dont know premier but usually to burn a sky like that you expand the mask so the edge of everything else goes dark too, the halo is there but represented as a darkening of the roof.

Easy in Resolve.

I think that would work with Premiere's polygon masks but the secondary color correction masks seem to work different. It blurs borders. A secondary luma mask was used so as to key just the sky and avoid the tower.
