Terrible buzzing whenever camera is plugged into AC

The title pretty much describes it. I'm using a low end DV cam, along with a shotgun mic with XLR to mini cord. It's fine when I'm using battery power. I think a beachtek converter would probably solve this, but I'm in no position to buy one right now. Any suggestions on how I could overcome this without buying any expensive equipment? Because it is nice to be able to plug into a wall.

I am fairly sure this is the "60 cycle hum" If you do some research on it you will understand how and why this occurs. The easy solution is to just use your batteries. I would invest into another one if power is an issue.

After listening to a sample of 60 cycle hum, thats definitely what it is. I guess I'll just have to stick with battery powered for now. Would a beachtek converter solve this issue though?

There's a good chance that this could be cured via a "ground lift" switch ( like the one in the BeachTek adapter ), but just going with batteries might be the simplest solution. ( as Daniel J pointed out )

If you're buying more batteries, I would get them from the U.S., as it's far cheaper than buying them in Canada. I think your Elura 90 uses the same battery as my Canon HV20, which is the BP-2L14. In Canada these batteries cost about $150 Canadian. From B&H in New York you can buy them for $60 US. They also sell a generic battery for a bit cheaper, which so far has proven to be as good as the Canon battery.

One thing that sometimes worked for me when I got this on the old Panasonic AG-195's was to use a 3-prong to 2-prong adapter on the plug.
