i know this isn't the place for it but hey :smile:

john conner becomes a terminator, thats the reason they have wanted to save him the whole time... yes the baddies! plus if you look at the terminator salvation posters that have the half face from the darkness photo style, it looks like they have tried to make john conner look like big arnie! it could even be an overlay of certain features, hint to where the story is going perhaps...

as john connor says in salvation... this is not the future my mother warned me about! meaning throw away what you know!

a guide to reading movie posters
1. symmetrical format suggesting a mirror of two opposites, good on the right (marcus) and evil on the left (connor) hinted at by the direction of the eye brows, connors same as the terminator.
2. the arnie like look of connor.
3. connors eye colour is the same as the steel and industry of the machines, and marcus has a nice human colour.
4. notice the direction of the light sparks passing from connor through the terminator to marcus, as they say... follow the light, the light is your guide.
5. terminator salvation... who is the savour? it suggests a question but lets everyone make the wrong presumption.
6. technically both faces have a red eye from the middle terminator as their own.

all this could be just my imagination but i do know for fact that the people who make all the posters and artwork do like to use a bit of symbolism, everyone does who creates wether they are conscious of it on not.
anyways it was fun talking about it as i'm hyped about the relevance of the terminator story in our current times.

I'm really not sure what you're saying... I mean from what it sounds like you're jsut breaking down the terminator salvation poster, looking for a meaning behind it... and not sure what that is.

So what does that have to do with terminator 5? What 'story' ideas are you talking about?

Jon Starr your not really sure what i'm saying? i'm suggesting a possible direction for the terminator films.

i thought the direction could be that john conner might become the terminator in the coming films... i thought i made it pretty easy to understand what i was saying.

yes breaking down the terminator salvation poster is what i was doing correct, again its very obvious i was breaking it down, especially by my break down of it! :smile:

id have thought since the terminator films are based around the relationship between man and machine and machines taking over man, the main "man" becoming the "machine" is a big revelation, i thought that would be enough for a story. all the terminator films overlap as they are all about one main story, each movie has hints and clues to possibles for the next movie.

id not try guess at pointless things like what haircuts they may have :smile: thats the TV's game, i'm sure you can find it there.

theres a difference between looking for meaning and being open to whats suggested in film posters.
look into left and right brain thinking and know what your missing from being one or the other :smile: also ask what side of the brain are the people creating film, art and media using. some viewers are too busy stuffing their faces with popcorn to read between the lines at a greater picture :smile:


Gord.T my interest in H.R.Giger peaked when i was about 14... then i realised the importance of liking an artist who actually has something to say. Giger seems to only like drawing and making explicit sexual suggestions for his own satisfaction.

i dont really see the appeal of Giger as a true artist, yeah he can create other worldly alien styles better than anyone and is technically perfect in his technique but again his lack of suggesting anything worthwhile lets him down.


apologies to all the people who seem offended that i dared to suggest anything about the terminator films, i was under the impression "man" was allowed to think his own thoughts, its what stops us becoming "machines" (metaphorically speaking) :smile:

some people wait for life to happen, some people make it happen, neither is wrong or better than the other yet waiters seem to envy makers!


ps: if any of you are actually film fans, especially sci-fi fans check out COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT (it might give you a clue to where concepts for terminator/skynet came from.)

anyways as i said in my first post "it was fun talking about it as i'm hyped about the relevance of the terminator story in our current times."

also i'm a film fan and like to chat about films from time to time, a film making forum should be the place to do that.
