It's been two dacades now that I have sent pilots, sizzle reels and my favorite ideas to networks and agencies in attampt to sell tv shows. For the last 5 years I have concentrated on one project and have pitched it to over 20 networks to date. Heck, I pitched it to five in one day at one point:

With no devalopment deals opun my return from that trip, I was tucked-tailed and back to cold-calling.
I was goping through an online cable network directory... was in the Bs. I saw The Boating Channel.
It's ok. I had never heard of it either.
Moddin' Art is a show for and about car enthusiasts and I pictured the same concept on the water so I called em up and small as the network is, I was soon speaking with the president.
I explained my show is about people and that cars are used as a vehicle, pun intended, to tell a story of comeraderie. I simply asked em to picture the same concept on the water.
They loved it and wanted to see something.
As fate would have it, I had been on a shoot on a cruise liner just weeks before. In between the "working" shoots, I managed to shoot some Moddin' Art stuff and had just finished putting together a fun little segment for my show:

This being my only water-based segment, I sent it as a demo of the format of the show I was pitching.
Weeks went by.
Then the phone rang.
Dude took the demo literally and immediatly began selling sponsorships for a new show that sends me on cruise liners.
lol
It's called fantastic Voyages and I'll simply take cruises with my family, document them and share them.
yes, my job will be to go on vacation again and again.
So...
I sold a show I wasn't trying to sell to a network I had never heard of after ywenty years of shlocking polished labors of love.
ya can't write this stuff.
The point is not to cath your dreams... the point is to never stop chasing them.
