Television Advertising paper

Hey, I have to write a paper on television advertising since 1950. If anybody has any links to any commercial production sites, or any info they'd like to share, I'd be thankful in the fullest

nik, a lot of television advertising was based off radio advertising. they would advertise certain products within a show. for instance, in a quiz show, the sponsor for that particular show would have product placement on the show, not to mention "commercials" embedded within the show. the announcer would say a bit about the product, and also, when it came to having a break on the show, they would strictly cut to a commercial about the sponsor's product.

so overall, there isn't really much difference between commercials now and commercials back in the 50s. but i would consider the commercials or advertising on TV to be more straight forward about the product. they would show it's abilities, not have two babes fighing in bikinis to make guys buy beer.

send me a PM if you have any other questions. i have a whole book full of notes on this.

I recommend looking into the career of Stan Freberg. He is a key player in revolutionizing the advertising industry as America made the switch from radio to television... and he has put out some incredibly funny stuff that will spice up any report!

I have his book "It Only Hurts When I Laugh." If you can track down a copy of that I think it will give you some great insight into the industry during the period you need to research.
