From what I can tell, teleprompter monitors and computer monitors are one in the same. Is this correct or am I missing something here?
Any particulars regarding brightness and resolution?
Thinking about a DIY project and just need a reality check here.
any input appreciated,

yeah they pretty much are just cheap lcd monitors. you can whip up a dodgy looking teleprompter yourself by buying these beam splitter mirrors. I've found a seller that sells acrylic and glass beam splitters here: http://www.telepromptermirrors.com/teleprompterdisplay.htm
Then get teleprompt software from here: http://www.dvcreators.net/promptdog/
and you've just built yourself a really cheap teleprompter.
That was what I was thinking but good to know. Just didn't want to run off on an assumption. Thanks for those links. The DVcreators software looks like a good deal. The teleprompter website has glass mirrors with two light transmission ratings; 60% and 70%. Obviously the 70% is going to be more reflective but also cut down on light entering the lense. Any particular one preferable over the other for outdoor shooting?
