telephoto adapters?

So I'm curious,
Has anyone used any kind of telephoto adapters with your DVX100a? I'm shooting a sports documentary, and I just have to get some closer stuff than I have, but I'd like to keep doing it with the DVX since I've done mostly the rest of it with it.

I know most Dp's will say only to use the century optics one but it's so damn expensive and I can't find one to rent in Chicago. I've though about buying one of the cheap japanese ones, since I only need it for a few shots, but will it really look that horrible, or is it a small difference? Can anyone tell me what the visible difference would be with one of the cheapo lenses? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

I agree with Gauranga.

Don't expect it to get you phenomenally closer, though. it is only 1.6x

Yeah, cheap glass will not get you good results. Stay away from it. Not fun to hear, but it's true.

Can someone PLEASE tell me what the VISUAL difference will be? not just "don't do it, spend everything you have". Would a cheapo lens likely add grain, soften focus, distort alltogether, limit light intake? Does anyone here actually have experience with anything but the extremely expensive stuff? It's not as simple as just "pennying up", I simply don't have or make near that much money, so I'd like to know litteraly what I'm in for if I were to use one. Any Ideas? I may just go without it all together, but there are some things I'd prefer to get live over staging even if it means some grainy junk.
Thanks again.

I'll tell you the century is the way to go the others are upconverted with adapter rings to fit 72mm which gives you a very small zoom length before extremely bad vinetting appears. Definitly go with the baonet mount century worth the $$$
