He makes some very interesting points that many of us may have experienced in bringing our own projects to life. I would agree that "Producer" and all its forms of credits have gotten so out of hand. Lee Daniel's The Butler" with 28 credits, and recently "Out of the Furnace" with 24 credited producers of some sort. Even Tony Scott who died in August of 2012 is a producer on this one. By the way, despite the number of producers, Out of the Furnace has some great cinematography and DI work for look and feel.
Making a living as a filmmaker is a tough one - most of us, if not all make a living with another job, perhaps related to the business or not. But money from the films I have made it not how I pay mortgage, send three kids to college and everything else that raising a family entails. This world we work in is a labor of love and need to create - making a living is another thing that few can enjoy. And good for them.
