TECH GUYS ONLY NEED HELP ON THIS ONE!

(The word MAINSITE is for example only)

Here is the deal:

Recently, I had to change my DNS listings for my company. When it was first taken care of only the main site DNS was changed but none of the Sub-Directories were. Needless to say, a client could goto the main site, but could not login, nor could my vendors, nor could into the intranet....

This has since been rectified (MAINSITE.com > ONLINESITE.com > INTRANETSITE.com > VENDORSITE.com >)

Also added to the DNS was MAIL.MAINSITE.COM

Once the other sites started to propagate properly, the last thing to happen was suddenly OUTLOOK cannot connect to the EXCHANGE SERVER

Prior to the addition of the SUB DIRECTORIES OUTLOOK was all good and well.

Network Solutions is telling me that it is because the MAIL.MAINSITE.com was added twice: Once as an MX Record and the Second time as an A Record.

Over an hour ago, the A Record was removed for MAIL.MAINSITE.com and left in only as an MX Record.

Still no go; Netwrok Solutions says this might take up to 3 hours to propagate.

I have a sinking feeling that its not going to work.

Anyone have any .02 cents here?

I think it should work too. It usually takes a couple of hours for all the DNS servers to update themselves. Good luck!

Re: TECH GUYS ONLY NEED HELP ON THIS ONE!

I wonder if I have to change the settings on OUTLOOK to be a POP account now? Yes, No, Maybe? :-/

I read your post and my eyes crossed. I just woke up. Who's talking?

Re: TECH GUYS ONLY NEED HELP ON THIS ONE!

I haven't used Outlook in a while, but trying to connect using a POP can't hurt.

But it shouldn't make a bit of difference...um...unless it has gotten the old info cached. Changing to POP3 and then changing back again might clear it if that's the problem.
