TDK Tapes?

ok i know sony consumer tapes suck. the problem is my local target only sells sony tapes and tdk tapes -- now i know i can order pannys online but i figure itd be sorta convenient if i could just take 5 mins to go buy some tape, so whats the word on tdk?

TDK tapes will make break your camera. That's like pouring superglue into the tape bay.

(not really, but do a search, this topic has been addressed MANY times.)

think of it as if going to a gas station. you have "unleaded", "super unleaded".....
logic tells you super is better gas.....but in theory who know...same applies to tapes....everybody'll tell you panny's better....but how do we know??????

You can get Panasonic MQs -- or at least something much better than the TDKs -- for a lot less online. It's the way to go.

The knocking and pinging and decreased gas mileage will tell you well enough, if you pay attention.

yea but how do you know it's from your gas intake.....a car does not run on gas alone. what year is your car.....do you drive in a big city where you have to start and stop until you get home.......

Ummm . . . OK.

Digression aside, TDK tapes are notorious for flaking and jamming up the insides of cameras. Order something better. The "inconvenience" of waiting a day or two is far outweighed by avoiding the inconvenience of sending your $3500 camera in for repair because you messed it up with cheap tapes.

I used TDK's for a while in my DVX. (I know I have commited a sin...) and I ended up having to pay for it to be professionally cleaned because of constant dropouts. I went MQ and never looked back. Are they more money? Certainly, but the piece of mind that my footage that I spent hours shooting is reliable, is worth 5.50.

Just order a bunch of tapes so you don't have to worry about them anymore.
The more you buy the cheaper each tape is on most websites.

I used 2 different types of tapes over 3 days, very few dropout problems and it was on a 2 year old beat up rental camera - neither tape was panasonic MQs either.
