Tascam recorder

Well, it's not exactly what you're asking for, but I picked up the DR-07 yesterday as a backup recorder. Haven't played with it too much yet, but the interface is quite good and it feels pretty solidly built. It's a little tough to get the cover off the SD card slot, but that's probably a good thing.

Hopefully someone else can give you more useful info.

I have one and like it fine. I had the DR1 and sold it to get this model with the xlr inputs. Only downside to me is that it's just little too large to put in your shirt pocket., and a bit heavy for its size. It has a sturdy metal case. The DRI or DR-7 smaller size made them a little more convenient for taking anywhere and capturing foley sounds with the built in mics. But the dr100 has 2 XLR inputs which is nice. It has built in stereo mics, line in, line out, phantom power switch. Has a built-in rechargable battery, and also takes 2 - AA batteries as an option or for extra recording time. I'm happy with it but if you want such a recorder mainly to use the built in stereo mics I would look at a smaller/lighter model. You'll be more likely to have it with you all the time.

Hello Sneakle,

Do you have any feeling about the preamps compared to anything similar?
On name alone, tascam probably has a better rep than zoom....
