Tascam HD-P2 Alternative Power

Yesterday I'd experienced an unfortunate event when one of the rechargeable AA cells decided to collapse inside my Tascam's battery compartment.

I've realized that quick enough to open it and pull it outside, nonetheless the compartment had a bit of plastic meltdown and needs replacement. Handled the recorder to official dealer here and with some luck, none of the cell acid drops reached the circuit board.

This event led me to think in an alternative way to power fed the Tascam. Been surfing the net and ended up considering a Dynacore D-95A 95WH battery which can be connected directly to the Tascam's AC plug, ending definitely with the horrors of melted batteries inside my precious recorder.

The only thing is that I'll have no way to manage power consumption since it'll not show the battery status on the display that way.

As I'm no battery expert, can anyone give an estimate run time on Phantom with this kind of battery?

Thanks in advance

Not sure about that battery, but I use the BDS from Remote Audio/Trew Audio with my HD-P2 and an NP-1 all the time. I can usually power the HD-P2, SD 302 and 2-3 wireless Rx's all day on one Li-ion NP-1.

Thank you for your suggestion Phil.

BDS remote box is something new to me and it seems to be a good way to power fed the recorder and mixer with only one battery at the same time.

Unfortunately, I've been surfing the TrewAudio website and there isn't much info about the product, namely how everything is connected for instance. It appears to me that most of the connections in the box are DC power type connectors. Is this right?

So you only need cables with DC connectors on both ends to power everything?
For what I can read, you turn the power ON/OFF in the box, right?

What's the mAh of the NP-1 battery you are using to power your whole set?

Regards

I'll have to get back to you on the mAh on the NP-1. On the BDS, you can get the right cables for all of your devices from Remote Audio/Trew. There is one unswitched plug on my BDS2, the rest are turned on and off via a switch on the box.

You will also need the NP-1 cup and connector.
