I just wrote this up for my column in www.hdvideopro.com It is a game changer in its price range. Some pretty pro features and the HDMI input, processing and pass through is a unique feature not available anywhere else at any price that I know of. I own the Tascam DR40, DR60 and have used the DR70D. Generally Tascam has improved the sound quality, S/N ratio in each successive generation. For $600.00, this should be in the bag of anyone halfway serious about sound who cannot afford a multi-thousand dollar Sound Devices recorder. Even if you discount the HDMI, if you are shooting with better pro cameras, six channels of 24bit/192kHz recording with decent pre-amps, a magnesium body and lots of other cool features that can jam sync to TC is nothing to be sneezed at. Bravo Tascam, nice work on lowering the cost for pretty effective audio for video tools. Personally, I will take this over the Zoom F8 any day of the week.
