Tascam DR40 SD media preferences?

Anyone have any SD card experiences with the DR40? The list they offer is full of cards that aren't produced anymore. I was wondering if the DR40 is as picky with cards as the Zoom H4n and needs certain cards to function well? Thanks.

I have a mix and match bunch of cards and it hasn't had problems with any of them.
Lexar Platinum II 4GB - SDHC 100X
SanDisk Ultra II 4GB - SDHC 15mb/s
BarunFlash SD 2GB - ?

I recall this question someplace else or I'm losing my mine. Groundhog day.
I use 8GB class 2 standard speed Sandisc, PNY, Kingston and Wintec cards without issue in the DR-40 and 680.
Some devices are fussy, others not. In any case, I always test a new card out prior to anything a gig.
Obviously a card should be formatted in the device that's going to be used.

Ok, cool. Usually when there's a problem with something like this there is no shortage of people complaining. I wrote to TASCAM to get an answer from them on newer media but I don't expect to hear from them at all unless they have a PDF of tested cards that may itself already be out of date. ;)
I'll just use the sites I go to for test results on reading and writing to storage media. SanDisk and Lexar look often to have the highest performance.

BTW cards go bad after a lot of use. I haven't had any SD cards go bad yet so maybe they are getting better but I've had "good cards" go bad in the other FLASH formats. So get more than one.

Try going to the BH website and look up your device. Under the specifications tab, there will be a listing for card requirements. If you go to the Tascam website, the manuals are usually available for download, and the specs will be there also.

For the most part, recorders like this aren't fussy. Anything from class 4 up should work. Sandisk extreme has served me well with a wide variety of devices.
