Hallo guys,

i need your help if you can. I want to have for safety recording the audio interview with a sennheiser radio mic and to be sure i wanted to record the same even with a shotgun mic. Can i both plug to xlr inputs of My tascam to have them in 2 different tracks? Any advice on the settings please?
thx

I don't think it can be done because the lav requires a LINE in and the shotgun a MIC in. The dr-100 to my knowledge can do either one or the other but not both...

The Senni G2 / G3 portable Rx units can deliver mic out....

On site you would need to set the shotgun mic level FIRST and then adjust the O/P of the senni Rx (which is only in 3db steps) to something similar or just a bit less than the shotgun level.

(I am also assuming the gain stageing of the radio mic systen has been done correctly)

What you are trying to do is a crappy way of doing things, using a small mixer would be a SO MUCH better way of doing a recording.

In post production use the BEST track but don't use both tracks or you WILL have phaseing problems.

The Sennheiser G2/3 can be set to mic level. (typically an AF out setting or around -18dB ), the problem is (assuming you have the EK100 portable receiver) it's unbalanced, and should not be used in conjunction w/Phantom Pwr.

i followed your suggestion guys today.
I've attached the Senn g2 trough XLR to the tascam and to have even the audio on the camera FX1 i plugged the signal out from the tascam to the FX1. Result: the audio recorded in the sony FX1 had a lot of noise....
Any reason behind this?
To take the safe audio i recorded tha audio with a shotgun and was crystal clear..... I noticed that the G2 had a strang issue sometimes during recording: a second of digital Slap noise like interferences..... It was very bad that's why i opted for a shotgun. I was interviewing an old miner next to an airport; is there any chance that the radar next to us could be the problem?

If you're using a radio mic, no problem. That's the system I started with. Boom in 1 input, radio reciever in the other. You will have to push the gain up quite a bit on the boom to get useable levels but it does work.

There is a LOT of RF around an airport so that is possible. Did you search for a clear channel or just use whatever the wireless was set to?

Too many people just find something that works once and leave it there assuming it will work everywhere, but that is not the case. So could be radar but there are also a ton of other RF sources around an Airport so could be any number of things stepping on your signal.
