Hi Everyone. I've been using dual audio recording for the past year and a half with my Tascam DR-40 and GH4. I just saw the Tascam DR-70 is on sale at B&H right now for $199.99. Here's a link to all their specials:http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/promot...romotions.html.

Beside better pre-amps and 4 channel recording, is it worth the upgrade and for those who have one? What are the main benefits of having DR-70 vs DR-40? Thanks

Nice catch, that is an excellent price.

The main reasons why in your shoes I might make the switch.
1) knobs yo can turn as opposed to buttons you click to set levels.
2) much more bag friendly.
3) more inputs.

For me #3 would be the big plus since I already have a two track recorder I like that is bag friendly. It would also be a better backup than the DR-40 is. But I would still be keeping the DR-40 for pure ease of use for grabbing sounds. The mics built into the 70 might be OK? but they are usually (for me) going to be buried in a bag and so not much use.

For you?

As Darren wisely points out if your happy then $200 is a lot to spend. And while the MSRP is $399, I've seen this for $270 enough times that you will probably be able to get it for that if you look.
