Tarantino's Chapter Style?

Hey guys I saw Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds yesterday and while I thought it was a solid film I couldn't help but notice that he used the chapter format like he did in Kill Bill. My question is with the hope of getting a good discussion going do you think the chapter format works better than the traditional 3 act structure. I mean I did notice that he had similarities between the the two but I personally really like the chapter structure that he used.

I felt it was just a little style thing he likes to do. The movie unfolded very much in a conventional three act way so the chapter headings were to me just a sort of amusing affectation. I thought the storytelling was very solid, so the chapter affect was a very minor detail in my absorption of it.

I agree with ted, although i felt that basterds was somewhat unpolished and less refined than any of his other films (aside from maybe death proof).

I was dissapointed on the whole.

Where as Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dog's just gave us more flash backs into characters lives, I like how we get stand alone scenes that really only make sense when we view the movie as a whole. Some might call this style over substance, but then again I was also a huge fan of Memento and Irreversible... unique story telling techniques. It's really no different than what some tv shows do, Like LOST or even the comedy How I Met Your Mother... despite being a cheesy comedy it really does have some unique story telling techniques... and it's fun to use these, as writers and filmmakers, to our advantage.
