Taping seamless white paper backdrop to wall with gaffers tape?

Hi all. I wanted to ask if it would be possible/ practical to tape up a seamless white paper backdrop that is 9 - 10 ft. wide to a wall. In other words, use the tape as support instead of stands.

I'm asking because Amazon messed up my order of an Impact collapsible white backdrop. So I'm about to go buy a seamless white paper roll. I can probably borrow some support stands. But I wanted to ask about this as a backup plan. Thanks!

I've done it successfully a few times, but only on non-critical walls, you're likely to pull paint off. Pretape the entire roll width at ground level with good gaffers or duct, have someone hold the roll at desired height while you press the tape down and burnish. Then let the roll roll down the wall and sweep out when you hit the floor.

good luck.

I would use 3" or 4" paper tape if you don't want to pull the paint off the wall. Even then, you could still pull the paint off, however with gaff tape it's a near certainty.

I've successfully used staples before. But you have to have someone to support it for you until you get enough staples in so that its properly supported. This way you hav some small holes in your wall, but not chunks of paint peeled off. It's a trade off. Just depends on what you're comfortable with

The other option I can think of if this is a studio area is.... A couple of eye bolt/screws into the ceiling area, if you know it will support the weight. Then a pair of rope ratchets to raise/lower your screen. Then an inexpensive piece of pipe/tubing from Homedepot type store which you will slide inside the cardboard roll to support your screen. Drill holes at each end of the pipe to attach the rope ratchets to.

Personally, I'd get on the phone with Amazon and demand they ship the proper order, overnight. Otherwise you're going to have a nightmare and a mess trying to compromise your set, lighting, etc.
