Tape storage

Sorry if this is the wrong forum.
My house is not airconditioned, and we live in Virginia, so in the July-August heat, the downstairs reaches a very humid 85 or so. The less-finished-than- unfinished basement rarely gets above 75, but humidity can soar, especially when the dehumidifier shuts itself off.
I am accumulating a stock of mini-DV tapes and need to keep them in decent shape. What are my options? If I were to seal them in a 1-gallon, heavy ziplock with a dessicant container, would that be good or bad? I have some 11x14 archival polypropelene print bags left over from pro-photog days a couple of years ago. Would they be any better? Any other alternatives on the cheap end, or do I need to spend $$ on a special storage container of some kind? I have a wine fridge that would keep the temp between 50 and 65, but would have to seal against moisture especially well.

Any ideas appreciated.
