Tape dilemma

I have a problem...

I recently began shootings gigs for a small production company.
They allow me to shoot with my own camera, but I have to hand over the tape at the end of the night.

Now here's the problem. I use completely different tapes than they do. I use Panasonic MQ tapes and they use Maxell consumer tapes.

My first gig, I shot with my camera, handed in my MQ tape, but when they used their deck to watch the footage, the audio came out terrible/missing.

For my second gig, I shot using their camera, but I didn't like the idea at all. I'm doing this only to practice using my camera and to keep my footage for a future reel and to learn from mistakes. I’m young and this is my first 'professional' job –before I was just making home movies. Shooting with their cam with their tapes and going home empty handed would be like a basketball player shooting a thousand practice shots with his eyes closed. He'll never know if his shots go in or not, thus he'll never improve.

So I expressed my concern and for the third gig, they allowed me to shoot with my cam and my tape as long as I dub it into their Maxell tape. But this posed a few problems. 1) It seems it'll be a major inconvenience as I would need their cam to dub it (plus, I need to get a DV to DV cable which I don’t have and I have to dub their tape today from yesterdays gig).... 2) they were calling me at midnight asking to come over and dub the tape last night which really disappointed me as I was getting ready to sleep.

Anyway, I'm working with a producer who lacks knowledge in these technical issues. (Obvoiusly I'm not much better off) ...So I need to come with a solution of my own.

I have my XL2 and a cheapo $200 consumer camera as my deck –which both are for my Panasonic MQ tapes exclusively.

What's the best way to make both parties happy in this situation.

I COULD invest in the FS-40, but only as a last resort and that would mean switching tape brands on my XL2. I prefer not as I've had nothing but good experience with the MQ tapes and the dry-lube causes far less head wear I've heard.

And the other solution I could think of would be dubbing the tape from my cheapo deck cam to their cam but as said, it poses an inconvenience.

Suggestions/help is greatly appreciated.
thanks!

My suggestion: Put as much distance as you can between yourself and this flim-flam production company. Maxell consumer tapes? Puulleazz.
And who calls someone at midnight? If the phone rings past 10 in our house, I'm gonna assume it's a family emergency or somebody died.

Hey! You're the guy we were all worrying about last week. Glad you haven't given up on this exciting and rewarding career path.
