whats a good tape deck to play mq tapes into my pc. does the tape deck have to be a panasonic or could i use a sony dsr11. i ask cuz i know i cant use sony tapes in the cam so i was wondering if the same princeplels still applied.
It is not that you cannot use Sony tapes on the camera. It is just that you can't mix them. Apparently, Sony tapes are wet lube, and panasonic MQ and PQ are dry lube. If you use Sony tapes, then stick to them. On the other hand, if you use panasonic MQ and PQ tapes, then stick to them. Some argue that there isn't a problem if you mix MQ's and PQ's. But, me personally, I stick to the MQ ones. Those are the recommended tapes anyway.
As for the deck, you can buy the DSR-11, but, again, don't mix tapes as well. Apply the same principle.
