Talent Agents

Hello all, I have a copy written script that I would like to pitch to a production company. Got a hold of a producer by blind luck at Happy Madison production but he told me he didn't have the time to listen to the pitch and I should get an agent for credibility purposes. I'm fine with that but i figure it's just as hard finding a talent agent to represent you as it is to get a pitch going, anyone know of beginning agents who would be willing to work together? I know everyone says this but I think this is a great idea for Hollywood and I would love to see this comedy made, tired of the same old silly movies with no apparent plot.

Thank you.

Here is the rundown on the story, maybe someone will see it here and like it ;)

It's a story about two slacker friends in the sixties; they were the champions of dungeons and dragons league in high-school but now poker is their game. After getting some nerves they decided to hit the open road on an old beat up station wagon for the Vegas open. Along the road they meet a whole bunch of crazy characters and on route 66 lose all their money to a table of poker sharks, amongst them is an elderly Indian man. Discouraged they decide to travel home only to discover that their car has been stolen. So after a pep talk they begin trudging to Vegas under notions that it's not that far. In the dessert they encounter a family of religious fanatics that try to bring them as a sacrifice to the gods but they manage to escape further into the dessert. That's where an old Indian man rescues them from dehydration. When they come to they are in an old reservation which is run down and poor, they discover that the reservation is cursed to never be good at gambling again. The old Indian man then teaches them the secret of the Indian hand, the secret of concentration and spirits helping in getting the hand that you need. Once they perfect the skill they go upon the trip to Vegas, winning the entrance fee back they enter the vegas open and a battle enrages between them and the Indian man who took all their money, but they come to learn that he is the curse and until he loses the village will continue having this curse, and the game becomes personal. The ending is a typical happy one where after an amazing upset the Indian man loses and the Village strives and the two friends walk away into the sunset.

Come one agents, help me get this thing made :)

don't bother looking for agents because their #1 is to look out for existing talent that brings in work & money. when you've got enough going that money is coming to you, an agent will land on that trail and follow it right to your doorstep

but if you just show up and start trying to get one, they'd never go for it. you'll just wind up frustrated. keep writing, submit to contests & if it's good enough to start placing, the right people will hear about it. Many, many screenwriters make their first couple of sales & options on their own and then get contacted by an agent

Thanks for the advice, I'll be trying to get it optioned but the thing is I don't really want any money for it :) I was trying to give it away for free right, and they still told me I need an agent. But a few people I called didn't know what to say. They were a bit dumbstruck by the idea of someone not wanting any money. Hehe just want to see this movie made, and maybe get some credit for it that's all.

I'd imagine if you told someone you didnt want any money for your script, then they will write you off as an A$$ and would think they script would be that too.

Who doesn't want $500,000?

EJ

Yeah you would have lost any chance in an instant saying "I don't want any money".

I'm interested to learn more about agents/management too if anyonce else wants to chime in.
