taking off a red rock mount to mount on a different DIY mount

I have a red rock M2 here that I want to take off the mount to put on a DIY mount that I made. Does anybody know how to take off the mount?

I have a question about the M2. Does the matte side of the spinning glass disc face the SLR lens or the camcorder lens?

from what I remebered, the matte side was facing towards the camcorder lens, I will have to make sure when I get home but I will find out later.
