I have shot a few independent films and have shot with a DVX, HVX etc. I was also in film school but changed majors. I am considering taking some cinematography classes at UCLA Extension. I have read some cinematography books but still feel a classroom could be beneficial for me. I realize working on sets would probably be more helpful but currently I don't have the time to do that as I'm currently studying computer engineering.
My plans are to develop digital cinema cameras on the engineering side and am looking for more practical hands on experience from a users point of view to improve my skills and help me learn to better design the gear. The price of the classes at UCLA Extension seem very reasonable. Has anyone taken classes there in cinematography? I know some engineers that make production gear, most of which say they wish they had more experience as a user and filmmaker to better improve their skills.
