Take Shelter

Can't believe there isn't already a discussion about this film, as it had a ton of good press/buzz coming out of TIFF last year. This is a masterful, intense slow-burn of a drama led by two excellent performances from Michael Shannon and Jessica Chastain. Shannon in particular is in stellar form, especially in the second half as events begin to unfold. Also, some of you might be interested to know, this film was written and directed by 33-year old Jeff Nichols. It is only his second feature (the other being 'Shotgun Stories', also starring Michael Shannon).

Trailer:

One of my top ten for '11. Shannon should have received a best actor nom. And a much better-original screenplay IMHO than Midnight in Paris which took home oscar this year. GREAT story + GREAT acting, defines for me what cinema should be. Everything else is secondary.
