I have been 'surfing' this forum for a while and was curious as I am not sure whether to take the plunge into a new 100b or get a used 100a: Do most of you own the 100, 100a or 100b?

Same situation as Horse. However, I would suggest a "B" model if it is in your budget. Why not take advantage of the upgrades?

If you NEED timelapse, then don't get a B. If you don't then get a B. It's the best of the bunch apart from the timelapse removal.

Underscaning EVF/LCD. Great improvement.

I love the B but if I had the extra cash lying around I'd get an A too.......just for the timelapse. I'll never understand why they didn't include the capability in the B. But then I think........how much would I really use timelapse?......it gets really gimicky after a while.........oh nevermind.......the more I think about it the more glad I am that I don't have timelapse.......thanks Panasonic for saving me from a hard drive full of timplapse video!

There are several software solutions for time lapse that result in a much smoother look than the DVX's internal time lapse record.

i got an A.....

But the B has the auto letterboxing and higher res LCD and Viewfinfder..... thats good. i want to tear off the view finder fomr one of thoes and put it on my A......

Timelapse? How often are you gonna' use that?

I say get a "B" if you can... I didn't answer the pole because I shoot with an original, but I don't understand why anybody would suggest anything other then the latest DVX. Don't buy what I got if you can get better.

The original could have an audio offset by a frame or two... then they fixed that in the A model plus slowed down the slowest servo zoom speed... that slow crawl zoom is a big deal to me... I wish I had that... and as I understand it the B has all the improvements of the A, plus they fixed the crappy headphone amp... isn't that correct? On the original the headphone amp is great... then for the idiots that wouldn't buy a pair of 7506's Panny decided to "improve" the headphone amp for more total volume... and made it worse for anybody who had 7506's... and they also somehow managed to push the audio delay into the headphone amp... and that really annoys me when I'm monitoring sound and seeing an audio delay.

Thank the lord that I THINK they finally got all the improvements worked into the B, plus a few subtle new improvements... and they got the headphone situation fixed too.

Sound good? Make sense? Anybody disagree? Get the B.

I see where people are coming from by suggesting the B, and if it were me I would probably go for that as well. But I've seen some great deals on A's lately. It's made me consider getting a second one; I won't but it's made me think twice.

So, if the budget fits it, get the B. If your money is a bit tight, or you need other gear as well, I'd say get the A.

like TC said, you can get some great deals on A's, i'd go for one of those, then take the money you saved and get some extras, like a dvxuser batt, nice tripod, some filters...

the b might have a few extra bells and whistles, but at the end of the day, they're all still DVX's.

I love my Original DVX100! Got it used with 50 hrs on it, a portabrace bag and a bunch of other goodies for $2050. It was the right price and i used the extra money i saved to buy a letus35 and a few slr lenses.

No warranty tho... but 100 hrs later its still working just great!
