So, while Chrosziel 411-50 is on backorder I turned to ebay and got myself something to play with for the time being. The good thing is that it's Chrosziel too. And it's black :cheesy: The funny part is that I've never seen anything like it and can't really figure out what to do with it.

First off, take a look at the photos:

It's a mattebox that was used on a lense that was not internal focusing... The part that clamps onto the lense is freely rotating; that sliding thing with a pin sticking out of it can be tightened and apparently was used to stop the mb from rotating all the time by connecting to the lense somehow. Now filterstages... I don't know how, but 1 is rotating :cheesy: I'm not sure which one, depends on the way you look at it: if the housing is stationary then it's the 2nd one that rotates and if the adapter plate/backend is stationary then the whole front part rotates, both housing and 1st filterstage  To make things even funnier, I wasn't able to find these parts in the Chrosziel pricelist (or anywhere on the net for that matter) - the adapter plate with the rotating ring inside and the step down-ring that can be fit into it.

I expected to be a proud owner of a black Chrosziel and now I am a not so proud owner of a funny piece of junk I can't use lol

Ok, so maybe this all was not that funny to those of you who are used to ENG equipment, but I sure was in for surprise. On a more or less serious note, is there any way to make this thing work on my DVX for now? Either by purchasing some adapter plate/connectors/rings from Chrosziel or maybe by machining something? It seems like all that is needed is a way to stop housing from rotating (ie by connecting it to rods), so that when it clamps onto the lense only the middle part (the 2nd filterstage) was able to rotate... but there is no way to connect the mb to rods right now.

Woah, a novel! Sorry :lipsrseal

That's a great mattbox. I take it those are 4x4 filter slots?

all you need is the right adaptors to fit your unit. Some of those step down rings can cost as much as 100 bucks

what did you pay?
