Tabliet with HDMI

I'll bet you're right. That said....I'm pretty sure that you can use VNC to view the input from a laptop right? So...HDMI from camera to laptop. Android VNC connects wirelessly to laptop (remote control) and view laptop screen which is camera live view. This will work ...right?

Hi HHL,
That's a nice looking tablet... cheap and with actual ports! Suck it, Apple.
However, using VNC as you suggest means that a laptop would have to be part of the system, so I don't see how that makes much sense for field monitoring. Why not just view the image on the laptop?

I posted that original thread and can't seem to find it now either.
Still looking for a tablet with an HD video input... (but will probably never find one...)

I could be wrong but I think HDMI 1.4 is bi-directional and will allow input as well as output. It's still pretty new though and I think there are only a couple of laptops that even have HDMI 1.4 ports; tablets will likely incorporate them even later but eventually there should be one (who knows when though). Most current ones seem to use mini HDMI 1.3 I think (like the one in the link).

No, the EP121 does not have HDMI input. I just called the company and trudged through the endless recordings to speak to a rep. that could only repeat that HDMI is output only. I asked to speak to somebody to tell them that they are right next to a pretty large market of us if they just added input to the HDMI. "the HDMI is output only" "can I help you with anything else?" So I went to the feedback link on the ASUS site and threw the idea into the abyss...

Seems like a shame that a device that is basically a screen can not display images from an external source. Does not seem like it would take that much to implement, but maybe I don't know enough.

So if they come out with the EP121-Indie version I get the credit!
