table read questions

HI,

I'm having my first table read for my film. All the leads will be there and the crew will read for the supporting roles.

I plan to read through the entire script in one sitting. I am wondering if you read aloud the scene setup, character action, transition, etc. Or do you just have the characters read the dialogue?

Any feedback would help.

Thanks.

If you are going to have an audience there, I would have a narrator read the scene and character information to help them along. Table reads are a great tool and can help you discover areas that need to be reworked.

Table reads are indeed a great thing...

I usually read the scene action myself (me being the director) and just have the actors read their parts..

Definitely read the whole script. I would recommend you get an actor to read the narration. It will greatly add to the mood of the read as the visuals are every bit as important as the dialogue.

You read the directions try to keep it flowing.
On the first read, try and get through it.
Second, start to talk about it.

Good hunting.
